Pikes Peak Cog Railway

Visit us at Pikes Peak Cog Railway

Located just 70 miles from downtown Denver, and 7 miles from downtown Colorado Springs, the Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway travels to the top of America's most famous mountain. The Cog Railway has been going to the 14,110-foot summit of Pikes Peak since 1891, although the steam engines have been replaced with modern, Swiss-built locomotives.

The three hour and ten minute round trip includes thirty to forty minutes on the summit of Pikes Peak. The trains can carry up to 216 passengers although the Railway also has 80 passenger trains that can accommodate smaller groups. At the Manitou Station, the Steamer Stop Shop specializes in unique railroad, Pikes Peak and Colorado related curios and clothing. A miniature Cog train winds its way through the store.

Also at the station is the Cog Wheel Cafe, serving sandwiches, hot dogs, breakfast items and hot and cold drinks. Box lunches can be purchased and taken aboard the train.

RESERVATIONS ARE NEEDED AT ALL TIMES. THE RAILWAY RUNS SEVEN DAYS A WEEK FROM LATE APRIL THROUGH EARLY NOVEMBER. The 9:20 AM & 1:20 PM trains run all season; the 10:40 AM & 2:40 PM trains run late May thru late September; a 12:00 PM train runs mid-May thru mid-October; the 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM trains run mid-June thru mid-August; a 5:20 PM train runs from late June thru mid-August.
